SEO Analytics Dashboard: How to Track and Report SEO Performance
Why You Need an SEO Dashboard
SEO generates massive amounts of data across multiple tools — Google Search Console, Google Analytics, rank trackers, backlink monitors. Without a dashboard, you spend hours pulling reports instead of acting on insights. A well-designed SEO dashboard consolidates your most important metrics into one view, shows trends over time, and proves SEO ROI to stakeholders.
Essential Metrics to Track
Organic traffic: Total sessions from organic search. Track total, by landing page, and by device. In GA4, go to Reports > Acquisition > Traffic Acquisition and filter for Organic Search.
Keyword rankings: Average position for tracked keywords. Track movement over time. A 3-position improvement on a high-volume keyword can mean thousands of additional visitors.
Click-through rate (CTR): Percentage of impressions that result in clicks. Low CTR on high-impression pages means your title tags and meta descriptions need work. Average organic CTR across positions: Position 1 = 27.6%, Position 2 = 15.8%, Position 3 = 11%.
Conversions from organic: The metric that matters most. Track form submissions, purchases, sign-ups — whatever your business goal. In GA4, set up conversion events and filter by organic traffic source.
Revenue from organic: For e-commerce, track organic revenue directly. For B2B, assign lead values based on conversion rates from organic leads to customers.
Building Your Dashboard in GA4
GA4 Explorations let you build custom reports. Create an "SEO Overview" exploration with these cards: Trended organic sessions (line chart), Top landing pages by organic traffic (table), Organic conversions by landing page (table), Device split for organic traffic (pie chart), New vs returning organic users (bar chart).
Google Search Console Reports
The Performance report is your GSC goldmine. Key views: Queries report (what people search), Pages report (which pages rank), Countries report (where your audience is), Devices report (mobile vs desktop performance). Export weekly and compare month-over-month.
Monthly Reporting Template
Include these sections: Executive summary (3 bullet points), Organic traffic trend (with chart), Top 10 keywords by position change, Top 10 pages by traffic, Conversions and revenue from organic, Technical health score (Core Web Vitals, crawl errors), Actions taken this month, Next month priorities.
Automating Reports
Use Google Looker Studio (free) to connect GA4 and GSC data automatically. Build a live dashboard that updates daily. Share with stakeholders via a persistent link — no more monthly email attachments.
